In a bizarre collaboration that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes reverberate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden sect.

The mission centers on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to numerous items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
